PROFESSOR OLGA MAKHUBELA-NKONDO

Professor Makhubela Nkondo, a distinguished beacon of knowledge, was a professor at UNISA Pretoria, for many illustrious years. She earned her master's and doctoral degrees from Harvard University, conferred in 1986 and 1993, respectively.
From 2002 to 2005, she was honored to serve as the Dean of Students at UNISA and participated in the UNISA Interim Management Board, as well as the Executive and Extended Management teams. During her impactful tenure at UNISA, Professor Makhubela Nkondo established the Advocacy & Resource Center for Students with Disabilities, alongside initiating the HIV & AIDS Center, now known as the Campus Clinic. Both centers have since been woven into the very fabric of UNISA, fostering a legacy of support and care.
Professor Nkondo lent her expertise to the International Scientific Advisory Committee for the International Council of Nurses’ 24th Quadrennial Congress, a significant gathering held in South Africa in 2009. Her literary legacy is extensive; she authored the HIV & AIDS Dictionary, crafting both its inaugural Braille edition and regular print. Additionally, she guided master's and doctoral students from Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, and South Africa to triumph through the esteemed corridors of UNISA and Delivered research reports at international conferences across the world.
